Transdisciplinary perspectives on the media and creative industries

The combination of increasing convergence, automation and standardisation of business and creative processes, on the one hand, and the disruption of consumer and business models, market fragmentation, and the entry of new companies from other sectors (technology and telecommunications, for example) on the other, has contributed to the adoption of management methods and practices that are more oriented towards market demand perspectives. However, none of these market-orientated approaches are easy, nor do they guarantee economic and financial success; these practices challenge the conventional cultures of media companies and pose significant challenges for the sustainability of the newspaper industry.
